U. PENN HILLEL WORKING WITH HAMAS-SUPPORTING MUSLIM STUDENT ASSOCIATION (MSA)

by Beila Rabinowitz and William Mayer

On April 1 the Hillel and Muslim Student Association (MSA) of the University of Pennsylvania will be hosting an event titled "Shariah 101: It's contemporary applications and theological validity." The discussion will take place on the second floor of the Hillel building and in true dhimmi mode, the Hillel will be serving a Halal [Shari'a compliant] meal.

This is not the first time that the Hillel at UPenn has worked with the Muslim Student Association despite being alerted to their Islamist agenda.

As these writers have documented in "U Penn's Hillel and MSA's Excellent Spring Break Interfaith Jihad Adventure" the group has a long history of conducting harmful outreach with the MSA, damaging its own credibility in the process.

"What this trip proves, more than anything else is that the U Penn Hillel has proven itself intellectually lazy, subverting its own interests. It has allowed itself to be lured into this harmful multicultural exercise — a sham dialogue — with a group that is a total creation of the Muslim Brotherhood."

Contacted this afternoon by PipeLineNews and asked about why a Jewish organization would be working with the Hamas supporting, Muslim Brotherhood affiliated Muslim Student Association on a program recognizing Shari'a, UPenn Hillel Director, Jeremy Brochin, after a period of extreme obfuscation terminated the conversation by hanging up.

The inability and/or unwillingness of UPenn's Hillel to defend its actions in this continuing and shameful partnership with MSA is understandable, one only has to peruse the links on the UPenn MSA
website [http://www.upennmsa.org/resources.html] to see the radical Islamism that imbues MSA's hateful ideology.

Below is a YouTube video available through the MSA website in which Bin Laden's spiritual mentor Abdullah Azzam defends the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al-Banna and its most important intellectual, Sayyid Qutb whose theories of violent jihad established the pathway to al-Qaeda. About these two these early jihadists, Azzam states that "their blood was the fuel for the generations which came after them."

Via the UPenn MSA's link to Troid.com, another radical Muslim website, we find the following explanation of how Muslims view partnerships and peace treaties with Jews and other kaafirs [source,
http://www.troid.org/comprehensive-issues/common-issues/concerning-the-peace-treaty.html]

"The reply is: that a peace treaty with the Jews, or with other kaafirs (unbelievers), does not mean having love for them, nor taking them as friends and allies. Rather it means only peace between the two sides and that each of them will not harm the other, and other things such as buying and selling and exchanging ambassadors; and other dealings which do not mean love for the kaafirs or taking them as friends and allies And the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) established a peace treaty with the people of Makkah; and that did not mean that they loved them or took them as friends and allies, rather the enmity and hatred remained between them until Allaah made easy the conquest of Makkah in the year of conquest — and the people entered Allaah's religion in crowds. Likewise the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) established a peace treaty with the Jews of al-Madeenah when he emigrated to al-Madeenah — and it was not restricted by any time limit. So this did not necessitate love of them, nor affection for them. Rather, he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) used to have dealings with them, speaking to them, calling them to Allaah and encouraging them to enter Islaam. Furthermore, when he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) died, his armour was held in pledge by a Jew for some food which he bought for his family. Then when the tribe of an-Nadheer acted treacherously he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) banished them from al-Madeenah. And when Quraydhah broke their treaty; supporting the Unbelievers of Makkah on the Day of al-Ahzaab in fighting against the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) — then the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) fought them, killing the combatants from them and taking their women and children captive..."

Further partnering with the MSA by UPenn Hillel is indefensible and morally reprehensible.

Consequently, we call on Hillel to immediately cease dealing with this radical Islamic group. Unless or until this is done Hillel will be guilty of intentionally working against the interests of its membership and conspiring with an arm of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood to grant it undeserved legitimacy.

This Announcement appeared in the MSA UPenn newsletter

"Shariah 101: Its contemporary applications and theological validity"

Free Halal and Kosher dinner!

0A

When: 4/1; 7-8PM

Where: Hillel-2nd floor auditorium

According to Hillel director Jeremy Brochin Hillel and the MSA are doing the Shariah 101 event under the auspices of PRISM the 'Progressive Radically Inclusive Student Ministry' , sponsored by the United Ministries in Higher Education. On their website PRISM "peer minister" Matt Pizutti, PRISM peer minister, describes the groups beliefs:

At PRISM, our most valued beliefs are our common beliefs in the value of our differences, the importance of harmony, the power of love, and the need for spirituality in our lives. But we have other beliefs that are not the same; "interfaith" is not a religion in itself, it is the peaceful coming-together of more than one religion. We believe we are all strengthened by the presence of those unlike ourselves.

Editor's Addendum 2:

This is an excerpt from "Hillel Student Leaders Participate in Israel Apartheid Week!" from the March 10, 2009 IsraPundit website
http://www.israpundit.com/2008/?p=10722. It chronicles Hillel activities at U CA Berkeley.

Since Ken Kramarz, Hillel's N. California regional head, took office in June 2007, under his leadership and guidance, a troubling situation has developed at Berkeley Hillel: Hillel has welcomed leaders of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), an extremist anti-Israel group into its student organization meetings.

By allowing SJP into its facility and groups (see here), Hillel has allowed itself to become a breeding ground for anti-Israel extremists and activists. Impressionable Jewish students have fallen prey to SJP and have been closely cooperating with this organization.

Ken Kramarz himself has been discouraging pro-Israel students from rallying for Israel (telling them it makes Jews look "bloodthirsty") and from displaying Israeli flags (saying the star of David "represents militarism"). This gives an insight into the source of the problem at Berkeley Hillel.

Kramarz's "leadership" of Hillel is having its natural effect: Hillel's student group leaders and members are participating in SJP's "Israel Apartheid Week," an annual anti-Israel hate-fest taking place this March 1-8, 2009. This is just the latest negative effect of the Hillel leadership on the future Jewish generation.

Rather than acknowledge the problems and trying to rectify them, those who are content with the present situation at Hillel are distributing a disingenuous letter trying to deflect from Hillel the responsibility for the offensive Valentine invitation. They are also ignoring the larger issue of a disturbing pattern of misconduct. The actual letter authors are implying that the invitation was not placed by Hillel staff. This is not true! The "administrators of Hillel's Facebook invitation" are Hillel staff.
